Yowdies!
Lets broke the ice and start the interviews section. Well check forward and mail me (impro@labra.com) for more ideas! |

1. Well, dunno how interested guys are but tell me about your computergames history? |
First i started with c64 playing gauntlet and other great games, year was prolly -87 or so. ill changed commodore for the segamegadrive before '90s start when i gots first pc. i played wolf3d first and after doom was released it took over wolfenstein. doom was pretty attractive and it was also first game where i could play against other man. the 0-cable multiplaying rocked. laters ill played with modem too. duke3d was in my 'playlist' too, with shadow warrior. they were the first 'biggest' online-playing games i'd played before. more guys to fight etc. quake came when i upgraded machine and it became
playable, '96-'97. first thought was that quake is pretty ugly but i started to like it after awhile. |
2. Tell us about starting quake in online? |
prolly played first time in net like '97. started with modem and quake.sci.fi and there was no clue about any clans. somewhere in the beginning we got a quakeserver for our isp too and my connection changed to isdn. we put up clan LAG cause we had same ISP and it lagged so badly for all of us. also i started to play with mouse when we had LAG-team. then we noticed that U.S. guys playing with same clan name, so we changed to clan 303 (name comes from the legendary drummachine Roland TB-303 ;). members were me, happo, kontto, perza and same guy named galic. '98 303-team fusioned with Zetor and we went with perza, happo and kontto. we kept name Zetor. so, i've never actually played in another clan than ZR. well, i had to play one year in tVS cause ZR was "quitted" playing QW. |
3. Thats a great accomplishment for the quakeplayer who've played years, actually never changed clan! any tips for guys to doing the same from now on? |
well, there were no need cause we always had a good teamspirit and good guys. thanks for the good luck too, we got the best players in the same team. playing for fun is the most important thing for me and with good guys its even more funny. especially when we've had meetings and so on. |
4. Well, zetor is back in business, welcome guys, but how's the future? any ideas for going 'harder' divisions and move forward for the 'owning club'? or are you keeping gaming in chillingmode and having fun with it? |
no thoughts about future yet. dont think that we'll never go for the same style where we were. playing top on the qw-scene is absolutely fun, but it took too much time then. now guys has familys, jobs, school and other hobbies. and thanks to geuzer who talked about joining nqr. he actually called one day and asked that if we should join to nqr now. i haven't started qw in last 2 years before he called. I find it pretty confusing that in many clans, ppl don't know each others phone numbers and the only communication channel for them is irc actually, we had a prolly first 'voicecommunication' in finland. marko laine (mad, leader of ZR) did a communicating system to phones in his job. pushing buttons system calls for the guy and it calls back. guys had some kind of speaker phones for that. pretty unusable system cause the phones wasn't connected to computers anyway. this was in the beginning most of. |
5. A bit of politics in qwscene, interested about it? there are pingwhining etc. which i can't remember from end of the '90s when we played pretty much too. Any comments? |
well if you mean about the NQR stuff i haven't followed it so much. but, what i've seen in games etc. the whine has taken over a bit. dont fully understand this cause i always thought that qw players are older than usual average in onlinegames. also arranging matches in division 4 is pretty hard cause other clans dont know when they can play or you can't get them online etc. its pretty painful. though, im not saying that qwscene is nowadays ruined, good think that there's also much of good guys still in. |
6. Free words if you have still time! |
well, coolest thing is to see old farts still playing after 5-6 years. |
7. Thanks jag and welcome back for the good ol' times and lets keep in touch. |
tnx, it was nice talking to you. make love, not war :D |

Perhaps thanks to my ancient love-hate relationship with ZR, I find this interview really intresting and fun. Jaguar is one of the best finnish qw-players ever and I respect his opinions about QW quite alot. Zetor is a brilliant clan with a spectacular history. Their presence is a great benefit for NQR. To avoid sounding too ass-licky, I've to point out that Zetor's playing style is horrible. Atleast from my point of view. ;)
And remember, we're not oldschool. We're just old. |

I found it interesting as well :) And I must say, the first game I specced with Zetor in this kind-of-comeback I just loved it, the oldschool-playing-style, no speedjumps... Was in ecstasy, keep it up Zetor, and keep it up oosi |

Good stuff, and I like the bit about staying in same clan. Ive been CN since 98, only had a "1 year ?" break with 187 and FF, when CN was on a break. Also nice to know that some old players can come back to qw and have fun :) |
