American Gangsters 2 - 0 Fired

DM2 - Claustrophobopolis

191-122

Reports
We got both the first UPPER and LOWER RLs of the game while Fired built a quick ladder to the first QUAD. Our first UPPER RL made short work of the enemy QUAD, while the LOWER RL immidiately locked the TELE. Within a minute of the game we enjoyed a full lock on the level, however our enthusiastic start blurred our priorities. We retreated from the LOWER RL area, giving 2 RLs to Fired which came to haunt us a minute later at the next QUAD. Fired pulled off a by-the-book attack on QUAD which helped them slowly finnish off our RLs. The mid point of the game saw FIRED holding on strongly to the TELE side and running QUAD to the LOWER-RL smashing our counter-attack potential. Our attacks on the QUAD were uncoordinated, our RA-MEGA defense was holding on partially, and our score lead was diminishing at a drastic pace. Things were not looking good until the final few minutes of the game at which point we finally managed to coordinate and retake the QUAD, clear out the TELE, and hold on to it for the remainder of the game which gave us the victory margin. Fired showed off its true colors on this map, while its back to the drawing board for us on DM2 strat. - by American Gangsters

E1M2 - Castle of the Damned

285-86

Reports
Initial spawns saw Fired take the first RL MEGA GA while we obtained the first YA GL QUAD. Fortunately for us, we've made better use of our starting resources (especially the GL) and secured the YA in the first few minutes of the game without any RLs. Fired managed to kill off the first two QUADs with coordinated rushes at the expense of many frags. At this point we obtained enough RLs to safely control YA GL and MEGA areas. Consequent QUAD runs penetrated Fired's front line all the way into the catacombs of E1M2. Fired managed to retake the YA over the course of the game a few times, only to get flushed seconds later with our QUAD. GGs - by American Gangsters

heh... can?t really see why pings were so bad? is there no server in us where u could?ve played with fair pings? I was a bit suprised that ag won it so easily... but I guess pings mattered quite a lot... gg! demos?

We have been playing with 100 pings for a long time and now and we're used to them we didnt feel like preparing to fail for the entire season for one match so we all used fake lag to 110 so it wouldn't throw our entire feel and aim off.

hmm sounds like a bush idea :)

I didn't quite follow your logic up there Bronx (I'm high as hell). So, what I'm about to say may be pointless. I wish I had known about the game =(. I'm not sure when it took place (if it was this weekend I had other plans anyway =/). Even though I'm out of practice in tdm, I'm sure I'd have a far sight better ping than 100 (unless it was played on the east coast =P).

i dont understand why this wasn't play in europe server since it's european tournament my guess is that def knows some of the admins of this european league. it sucks tho imo it's european tournament not american one so it should have been played in europe. I heard that ag were gonna fake lag to 120 like f did what happend to that?

Cholo (67.34.20.150) 2003-10-13 17:44:17
as soon i saw the pings I stopped the demo not worth to watch imo just came here to see the ss's to see the scores 120 vs 40-50 pingers boring.

As far as I know Fired pings equal to us in the USA, had they not used qizmo's .lag feature. I've asked the NQR crew about it and they simply told me if they insist on bad pings they can qizmo .lag themselves. This was Fired's decision, not ours, so please direct your questions/comments at them. Lastly, I wonder where you've heard that we were ever going to qizmo lag ourselves to match their ping, because simply put not one of has said anything remotely close to that. The entire idea of two teams with average ping of 50 lagging themselves on purpose to 100 ping seems comical to me.

For the ppl who are wondering, we didn't go to hpb pings for the hell of it cuz we enjoy a disadvantage, we did it because playing with 40 pings and then 110 pings is a completely different game. Clearly we would have prefered the game to be played in europe. Obviously the huge qw scene is in europe with 30 pings so its hard for most euros to understand how devastating it is to your game switching from lpb back to hpb. Its a whole different feel because u have to switch to the sg earlier to not give up rls, just plain aim a lot differenently, and there are differences in movement. Personally I havn't seen anything under 95 for months and won't till I lan in the winter vacation. It was not in our best interest to enjoy a 40 ping for one match and then get smacked the next 6 matches in europe. It has taken a while for our clan to build the timing with the higher pings. AG on the other hand as a few european players so a match in the usa with lpb pings isn't as big a strain on them. Lastly I never heard anything about them going to 110 pings too so I don't know what that's about. Was a fun match they played well, I was also impressed by the class of both teams nice to see we are all becoming more mature here.

ag vs fired: i expected more smack, but none of that. would like to see both games. weird to think def and yogic playing gl....wonder what reading the teamsays messages are like.

slk (68.211.173.153) 2003-10-16 21:41:34
fired are a bunch of pussies for not playing a real match, 'lets play as hpb's so we can lose and not look bad'. i see paradoks come to usa and rape with 100 ping when he's used to 28 so thats a bullshit excuse. If you have half a brain u can adjust to hpb in about 5 mins. this could have been an awesome match of 2 good usa teams but instead fired made it a joke. props to squeeze tho, he's aiight k

slk (68.211.173.153) 2003-10-16 21:48:54
oh, and one more thing, half that team (squeeze and thump) plays here in the usa with normal ping regularly. thump was on a server just yesterday dueling with 66 ms, and squeeze plays ca with damage inc.

blakbeard (128.220.47.158) 2003-10-17 00:59:52
We did ask ag if we could reschedule multiple times to the end of the season, when we would have been happy to have played it as lpb in the US, but they refused. We also would have played a fair match with 100 pings (at whatever server) if they had agreed to that. However, 1 usa match isnt the focal point of NQR for us since it is a european tournament, so this is the way it was played. If thumpa and sq have been playing in the US though, I agree they may as well have played as lpb in this game.

sassa (81.224.84.64) 2003-10-18 04:28:10
I don tknow why ppl keep on arguing about the ping diff.. AG made the server where the pings were as low and equal as they could be and fired decided to ping themselfes up, thats their problem! as far as I see it AG IS THE BEST QW TEAM IN USA nomather what FIRED did .. they could take the #1 spot if they had won but they didnt nomather what ping they had! thats the end... I love the additude of the americans at the moment.. much love and much gaming as it should be.. let the hate be the story of the past and look ahead towards the games thats comming ahead!! EUROPE LEARN FFS, LEARN!! ;))
