It was time for the 1st semi-final of NQR season 2 between the two great teams CMF and HF. First up was CMF's map choice, DM3. HF got the best start, grabbing RL and Pent, whilst CMF were left with Quad. However, the HF RL was bored with life and gifted RL to CMF. Despite this, HF managed to get 2nd Quad and they were able to take control at RA... but not for long. During the early stages, HF held the lead by about 10 frags for some time, but CMF's greater hold on RA eventually paid off and they took the lead with 6 minutes remaining. HF had made some good attacks on RA but were unable to keep it for any length of time. The all-important last Pent was won by CMF and this let them build a lead of 20 with just 3 minutes remaining. HF made a spirited final surge but in trying to pull back the lead too hard they were over-stretched and lost control, allowing CMF to record a victory by around 40 frags. GG both teams! -kryten |

Next up was HF's map choice, E1M2. CMF got a flying start grabbing the first RL and Quad, and were therefore able to take control at YA/GL. HF were forced to retreat to MH, but managed to knick the odd Quad to keep them firmly in the game. After 4 minutes CMF lead by just 4. CMF seemed to lose their grip momentarily, which lead to some fierce battles around YA and Quad, but were eventually able to regain control. After 5 minutes HF mounted a Quad attack on YA but were unsuccessful. HF later tried a 3 man assault on Quad, but again CMF held firm. But despite CMF's control at YA, they were unable to build a lead thanks to good battling at Quad by the HF boys. At the half way stage CMF lead by just 7 frags. The gap stays like this till around 5 minutes left, when HF manage to muscle their way in at YA and all hell breaks lose! Some mad fighting at Quad ensues and any team can win it when HF draw level with 3 minutes left. The final quad goes to HF and this seals them the victory by just 6 frags. What a game! And now a decider was on the cards... -kryten |

Both teams agreed on DM2 as the decider. HF got a good start, grabbing both RLs and bagging the CMF quad guy before he could do any damage. But just as HF looked like dominating, CMF took the 2nd Quad and this let them take over at Quad/YA tele. HF retreat to Low RL/MH as their early lead is wiped out. With 12 mins left, Dreey makes a monster Quad run for HF and this gives them the breathing space they need to take control at Quad area and build up a lead of 15 with 7 minutes to go. But this is short-lived as CMF find their way back in and the scores swing the other way. Looking to kill HF off, CMF move in at Low RL/MH but this leaves gaps at Quad area and before they know it control is lost. For the last minute there is just furious battles going on everywhere, and CMF lead by just 2. Again HF are able to take the last Quad this is enough to give them victory. It was a classic match which could have gone either way, but congratulations to HellFire who are the first team in the NQR season 2 final! -kryten |
