Signup for NQR8 here.
The admin team has had a meeting tonight and the following has been decided.
1) We have added something to the rules regarding minping:
If a fair server cannot be found, cmd minping can be set to bring the AVERAGE ping of the lower pinging team to the same as the opposition, upto a maxmimum value of 45 (unless agreed otherwise).
2) Ezquake:
The NQR admins have asked the EZquake team to make a presentation to them so we have more information before making a final decision. We will decide whether EZquake will be allowed in NQR8 between the time of signups closing and the league starting
3) Player transfers:
No player transfers will be allowed once the regular season has finished (catch-up week onwards).
Players can only transfer between clans during the first 3 weeks of the regular season. After the end of week 3, only players who have not played a map so far in that season can join another clan.
4) Added to the list of things considered as a cheat:
Movement scripts of ANY kind. This includes rocket jump scripts.
Automated teamsays, including automatic mega timer and "autotook" reporting.
Scripts that change a player's skin depending on their health/armour/weapon.
As mentioned before, the new build of fuhquake 0.31 should prevent most of these issues anyway.
5) New admins:
NQR is looking for 1 or 2 new admins to help keep our activity up. We are looking for people who are smart, have good knowledge of the scene and who speak good English. We are particularly after people with a strong knowledge of the lower divisions. If you think you fit the bill and are interested, apply on our forum here.

Minping should at least be at a maximum of 60 because the lowest ping we
portuguese players have its in uk ( ofc portugal we have less ) and its like 60.
I think 45 will give an advantage to our opponents. |

KillerGod: we discussed the value of the maximum and decided that higher values
put the other team at too much of a disadvantage. Jumping to a higher ping is
tricky to deal with anyway, without pushing it above 50, at which point it
becomes very difficult.
If your opponents agree, you can still play
with minping 60, 70 or 350, but if not then I'm afraid this is one of the things
you have to accept when playing in what is essentially a North European league. |

I realy like the new changes. But i dont like minping 45. Why dont use minping
39 as a maximum? when u practice to the nqrgames u will never play with ping
over 39. And then in the nqr game u have to play with 45 becaus some dudes from
Polen have 50ms in Germany and .nl :( |

it's really boring that big, great tournaments take the fun out of the game. the
evolution of quake is the reason that it's still alive, and now you erase that.
back to square one. back to the square that made people leave the game in
the first place for other games.
seems that most old/good players are
afraid of the changes and it seems to be since a "new" player can do moves that
took the "old" player weeks of practice to master.
i've been playing (with
breaks) since -98 I think, and I find it a blast with new players/clans in the
scene.
if it's too hard to adapt and learn the gameplay, we won't see any
new players in the scene.
you can shortly call it the doom of quake
