Crew statement on NA clans  060223

NQR9 has, thus far, received 3 signups from North American clans. The NQR crew would like to make it clear that we welcome these clans from the other side of the Atlantic and we hope that they will enjoy their stay.

However, we would like to stress at this point that NQR, in spite of its ambiguous name, is a European league. This means that North American clans should not expect special favours regarding servers or timezones.

Efforts should be made to find the most fair European servers for games betwen North American clans and European clans. In most cases the most fair-pinging servers will be those in the UK. Use Quakeservers.net for a comprehensive list of UK 4on4 servers. Please note that the normal minping rules apply for these games as well.

Similarly, North American clans competing in NQR9 should not expect European clans to confirm to North American timezones. The accepted time period for games is "sociable evening hours according to Central European Time" (to be added to the rules). European clans are welcome to be flexible and play after midnight in order to meet time requirements of North American clans, if it is convenient for them. Ultimately, North American clans should be prepared to play during the European evening, i.e. during the North American afternoon period.

The Crew intends to make a small 'special favour' to the NA clans that are in the Bronze Cup, and place them in the same group so that they at least have one low-pinging match. We will also endeavour to place other clans that are able to play in the UK, such as Portuguese and other Western European teams, in this group.

If any of the North American clans that have signed up for NQR9 have issue with the above, please contact the crew to discuss it.

this will be alot of fun i hope

will teams in silver and bronze cups be seeded also or just randomly put in groups?
gaz - 195.72.182.*** 060223 @ 14:52:09
The plan is to seed 8 teams in each tier and to have 2 seeds per group. There are enough clans to have 6 groups in Bronze, so that is something we will consider - we'd probably seed 10 teams in that case, with 2 seeds in 5 groups, and the 6th group having the 2 NA clans, Morituri (British) and Defs (Portuguese).

The rest of the clans will be randomly placed via the live draw on TeamSpeak :D
gaz - 195.72.182.*** 060223 @ 14:59:49
Or, we could place clans quasi-geographically in the Bronze.

Group A (UK servers):
Cool guys

Group B (German/Polish servers):
X Files
Demolition Crew

Group C (Danish/German servers):
Old Ones
Wings of Steel
Apocalypse 2, kurwasquad

Group D (Finnish/Russian servers):
Bukkake Samurai
Vitun Kova Bosse

Groups E & F (Swedish servers #1):
Loser Squadron 2
Da Quaking Manjakks
The Gibbers

Think that'd work? :P
joulukuu - 80.186.11.*** 060223 @ 15:15:34
ahah gaz your qw geography is way off... russia is closer to sweden than it is to finland.

joulukuu - 80.186.11.*** 060223 @ 16:51:05
here is another reference

i guess it's ok if there are no uraliens playing in ze nqr but still, se-ru < fi-ru
blaze - 130.230.1.*** 060223 @ 17:14:32
In qw what matters is backbones and routing not geography. It's true that the route from fi to ru often goes via se in the net.
gaz - 195.72.182.*** 060223 @ 18:02:54
Freaks! :P
gaz - 84.12.22.*** 060223 @ 21:01:42

give me the word and i will kill them
daizuki - 82.209.190.*** 060224 @ 09:56:53
so by minping rules still apply, it means that if their worst ping is 120, minping will be set to 120? imo this is a joke, its a eu league meaning the minping should be set to the highest minping in a normal game which would be about 60. QW becomes less fun the higher the ping is, and fact is most eu people including myself are used to good ping, and simply cant play with pings like 100 whereas US teams are way more used to it. If US clans want to play in a EU league please atleast make sure they dont have an advantage?
gaz - 195.72.182.*** 060224 @ 10:08:03
GG on reading the rules daizuki
swi - 82.183.184.*** 060224 @ 10:31:08
hehe, get some sleep dai
Hooraytio - 193.10.221.*** 060224 @ 11:51:02
If a fair server cannot be found, cmd minping can be set to bring the AVERAGE ping of the lower pinging team to the same as the opposition, upto a maximum value of !!! 50 !!! (unless agreed otherwise).
mushi - 82.155.142.*** 060224 @ 11:58:45
