Hey guys. The groups have been set up and you can now start playing your games!
Keep in mind that you will have to play quite a few teams stronger or weaker than yourselves. For some clans it will obviously be quite tough, but on the other hand you could see this as a great experience and a worthy challenge. And as we all know, the best way to improve is to play a superior clan.
As you can see, the teams were spread into 3 main cups, each one being subdivided into two groups rather than four; Every clan thus gets to play quite a lot of games. Having said that, we wish you all good luck! If there remain any questions or problems, don't hesitate to contact us on #nqr on Quakenet.

Gold: TB3 Only
Silver: TB3 Only
Bronze: TB3 Only
Fakeshaft is allowed in all of the divs.

hmm, well, RoT at its current state doesnt belong to gold :E but i thought that
was taken care of.. And i think that HIPS deserve a spot @ gold cause imo they
can take on and win many clans there. And no point putting Shadow Minions to
bronze cause they would rape the weaker clans there :E And what comes to urak,
gold for them absolutely even though riker whined @ #nqr, but placing a team
which has players like riker and inferno to silver div would be just ridiculous.

How the hell can sm be put in silver? We are really
not good and fairly inactive as well. The only victories sm has ever taken is
more or less only because of mm (and to some extent mooseman). They now play in
SM-M and we won't stand a chance to any of the clans in silver. My guess is that
morituri is one of the bottom clans in silver div and we got raped by them just
the other day (the only recent comparison I have). My guess is that we have the
standard of clans like Jägarna, PHC, OldOnes and Klatch! And to sum it up: We
are to fucking OLD to be raped, that's for up'n'commers, we're just on the
downslope so just let us have some fun! |

We didn't make the initial seeding. About
the 2 rot members agreeing, ok fine so they did, and others who were not online
at that time did not, but ok thats our problem now. At our current state (
inactive members ) we are not up for this level.

us nor the team playing against us. |

actually, initially hips were gold and you silver. you really need to check your
facts before whining. after all you had 14-5 map wins in eql4 and were clearly
div 2 material. i think you always have been placed at least one division to
low. anyways, eläintarha dropped out and we needed one more team in gold (div
1-2 merged) and what better team than the eql4 div3 finalists (again: who also
had 14-5 map wins). if your situation has changed and your not div2 material
anymore, your teammates should have mentioned this when i asked them about gold.
anyways, case closed from our side. do your best in gold and i'm sure you'll do
fine and have fun while doing it.

concerning div sub zero: since bronze was/is overcrowded (12/12 teams, silver
has 10/10) moving teams down wasn't an option. numerous teams in bronze were
asked if they could willingly switch to silver but none agreed to it and since
sub zero was initally placed in silver we decided to keep it that way. hopefully
they'll do allright. |

wow, i can write a whole essay on this subject but i'll try to keep it short
(and note that i speak for myself, more than a nqr admin this
time):
some teams will always be misplaced, even if (or especially if)
there are more divisions. look at every season of nqr/eql, or just eql4 for that
matter. some clans will only win 1 single map and some clans will go undefeated,
that's just the way it is.
one of the reasons of merging divisions is
simply because we, for example, don't have 10 or so div1 teams - we have 5ish. a
truly even division of 5 is not much fun, is it? by splitting them up in two
groups, the not-div1-clans in gold (including my own) will have 2-3 impossible
games, but is that really that bad? your suggestion div1 + top div2 has been
tried and doesn't really work since the skill difference is huge. i believe (who
knows before it's been tried?) that merging will be good for the scene if it
somehow get clans to play clans they don't normally play (instead of refusing
which imho leads to inactivity). i chose div1 as an example as it is familiar to
everyone, but the same goes for practically all divisions.
there's MANY
reasons to care about the size of groups. here's a few:
evenly sized groups
are extremely important as most teams should have, theoretically, the same
chance of reaching playoffs. top4 playoffs in a group of say 13 is a lot
different than in a group of 9. I know there's many ways to deal with this, but
we've chosen 3 weeks of playoffs which means quarter-semi-finals (that means 8
teams in playoffs).
another reason is that a season shouldn't be to
long since clans disbandon, go inactive etc quite often. 8 weeks + playoffs as
it is now is quite long and managing 12 games (groups of 13 as you suggest) in 8
weeks is really pushing it for some clans.
also, we feel the need try
something new instead of eql's system of div1-6 (or nqr's, you know what came
first). hopefully players can try to stay open minded and atleast try it out. if
it doesn't work out i can guarantee i (and everyone else involved) will do their
best to improve both the placement of clans and the structure of the tournament.
i'm not really interested in a long discussion here so this will
basically be it for me (if i haven't forgot something vital). i hope we can
focus on playing our games (and enjoying ourselves while doing it). there'll be
plenty of time for discussions afterwards. then we also know what didn't turn
out so good instead of assuming everything sucks in advance.
of course
the league is for players. claiming that we do this for our own sake is quite
ridicilous imho. if you feel however that you have great ideas and a lot of time
to give to the scene, feel free to apply as a new admin. we need you!

our initial assessment of div sub zero was borderline div4 which translates into
silver cup. if they however aren't div 4 quality and end up being one of the
misplaced teams that's regrettable. we hope that teams that might have tough
season ahead of them first of all starts it and of course, finishes it. many
clans have ended dead last (which is something sub zero have yet to do) without
dropping out, let's hope this is one of those clans. |
