Player list reminder & two new admongs  060228

These clans need to add players to their playerlist. Any clans without the requisite 4 players on their list by 21CET on Wednesday will be removed:

Clans with less than 4 players

In the past week we have added two new members to the ranks of the NQR Crew.

In the white and blue corner, sporting a "we only got the silver medal" t-shirt, from Finland, it's the Fixinator!

And in the blue and yellow corner, brandishing a table tennis bat and smelling faintly of snus, from Sweden, it's Mr Dje Vulsk!

Welcome guys.

This means the active crew for NQR9 is as follows (in the order that I remember them):

angua (when he's back from army in mid-April)

mrlame billy and legio might also be around occasionally.

   Signups closed  060227

Signups have closed with 63 clans. The Gold Cup has an impressive number of top clans, with the Viper Squad filling the last seeding place following their last-minute signup.

The crew will now spend the next few days adjusting placings (there are several clans on the borderlines) and deciding how we are going to place the clans.

We are meeting on Wednesday evening to finalise things, and we would like to remind clans that the deadline for playerlist signups is Wednesday at 21CET. After this date, all player additions will be subject to the approval of the admin team.

The group draw will be made on Thursday evening. Hopefully we will have some teamspeak coverage of this to make it a little interesting ;)

   Database comedy of errors  060226

Something went badly wrong in our database about 45 minutes ago and all clans were renamed to 'Shadow Death'! The crew has gone through every single clan and matched them to the correct name via the homepage and email fields alone. This means that your name, tag, leader or IRC channel may be incorrect. Please check your own clan's info and contact the crew if it is wrong.

Sorry for the inconvenience!

   Selling out  060224

You may have noticed that there are now Google Ads at the top of this page. This is because NQR is now paying for its hosting. As a result, it should be more reliable than the old hosting on QW.nu, which went down more often than a Prague prostitute.

Clicking the ads generates a tiny amount of money which will go towards the running of the site. Any additional money will be given to a worthy cause.

There is also a Paypal donation link at the bottom of the menu on the right. If you are in a position to help us out financially then please do not hesitate :) Of course, it is not compulsory, but any donations would be gratefully received.

Crew statement on NA clans  060223

NQR9 has, thus far, received 3 signups from North American clans. The NQR crew would like to make it clear that we welcome these clans from the other side of the Atlantic and we hope that they will enjoy their stay.

However, we would like to stress at this point that NQR, in spite of its ambiguous name, is a European league. This means that North American clans should not expect special favours regarding servers or timezones.

Efforts should be made to find the most fair European servers for games betwen North American clans and European clans. In most cases the most fair-pinging servers will be those in the UK. Use Quakeservers.net for a comprehensive list of UK 4on4 servers. Please note that the normal minping rules apply for these games as well.

Similarly, North American clans competing in NQR9 should not expect European clans to confirm to North American timezones. The accepted time period for games is "sociable evening hours according to Central European Time" (to be added to the rules). European clans are welcome to be flexible and play after midnight in order to meet time requirements of North American clans, if it is convenient for them. Ultimately, North American clans should be prepared to play during the European evening, i.e. during the North American afternoon period.

The Crew intends to make a small 'special favour' to the NA clans that are in the Bronze Cup, and place them in the same group so that they at least have one low-pinging match. We will also endeavour to place other clans that are able to play in the UK, such as Portuguese and other Western European teams, in this group.

If any of the North American clans that have signed up for NQR9 have issue with the above, please contact the crew to discuss it.

   Schedule up until launch  060221

Signups are going pretty well. 55 clans exceeds my initial expectations, so that's pretty nice. One or two more top clans wouldn't go amiss though (come on tVS, sign yourselves up!).

Here's how things will work once the signups close:

Sunday 26th February @ 23CET: Signups close (changed from midnight to avoid confusion...).

Monday 27th -> Wednesday 1st March*: The admin crew will finetune the tier placements and agree on the seedings.**

* This is the deadline for clans to freely add players to their roster. Any additions after this deadline will be subject to admin approval.

** 8 clans will be seeded in each tier. Each group thereafter will contain 2 seeded clans.

Thursday 2nd March @ 21CET: Clans will be randomly drawn and placed in groups A, B, C & D, live on TeamSpeak (details soon) and in #nqr!

Friday 3rd March: Clans will be placed in their groups on the NQR site and the fixtures will be generated.

Saturday 4th March -> Sunday 5th March: The NQR Crew will be on stand-by to make last-minute rule changes and deal with any emergencies ;)

Monday 6th March: NQR9 is live!

   work on the site  060218

I'm going to be doing some work on the clan panel this evening so I am disabling the clan login. The only way for me to do this while still being able to login and test it myself is to mark all clans in the database as being unconfirmed. This means that they'll disappear from the site temporarily - don't panic, I'll reverse it when I'm done.

UPDATE: 22.24 CET - this work is now finished and everything is back to normal...

   Crew additions  060216

Please welcome the newest additions to the NQR crew (we're really more of a family than a crew...):

From Finland, mr menth0l!

And from Portugal, mr konk!

Welcome guys, I hope you enjoy your stay in the 5th circle of hell. ;)

   Rules updated  060213

The rules page has been updated with the ruleset for the new season. Please read it! :)
